Prop 8

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) I have been intrigued by the outrage of the outcome on Proposition 8 in California. I watched this weekend as thousands descended upon the Salt Lake City Temple in protest of the Mormon church and it's involvement in Prop 8. I am sad for those who feel that civil unions would not be enough. I must admit, that I feel weird that I have to defend marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Simple anatomy tells us that that is so. Do I think that homosexual couples do not love eachother as deeply as my husband and I love eachother? Absolutely not! However, when you begin to define marriage in ways other than between man and woman, where do you draw the line? Man and dog? Woman and pig? It may sound harsh, but there is truth behind it.

I will teach my children the difference's that they need to know. My 6 year old doesn't need to celebrate gay love, just as he does not celebrate heterosexual love. He simply loves football and cartoons.

Let me make this clear, I do not hate gay people. I think that they should be allowed civil unions that should allow the same rights as married couples. Just don't call it marriage- it is simply not so. The greatness of Amercia, is Democracy. Democracy prevailed November 4th. The country voted in a President that I disagree with, and they voted against Gay Marriage. The only difference is I am not threatening people's property, I am not calling into question the type of underwear they wear. I am simply praying for strength to be able to support a man who I do not agree with.

Reason #4 Why I Will Not Vote For Obama

I want a President who EXUDES patriotism, and love of country. I want a President who understands and reveres the lives lost for our freedoms. I want a President who RESPECTS those who have fought for what we live. I want a President who would marry a woman who loves America, and is PROUD to be an American. I want a President who can look past race, and past oppressions and ommisions, and look at the beauty of democracy. I do not want a President that could ever sit with, condone, or praise someone who would cry, "God D---- America."

Reason #5 Why I Will Not Vote For Obama

"Nothing has been as damaging to our cause as the advances in technology which have allowed pictures of the developing fetus, because people now talk about that fetus in much different terms than they did fifteen years ago. They talk about it as a human being, which is not something that I have an easy answer how to cure." - Harrison Hickman (1989 address) (Consultant for Democratic Party, Democratic Pollster)

I believe that abortion is wrong. I believe that Mr. Obama was a coward in stating that it was "above his pay-grade" to say when life begins. I want a President that fears God more than man.

Obama the Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our president.
The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle'". Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a 'post turtle' was. The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle".
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, and he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with".

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words (and Excuses)

I stand corrected, and I apologize for writing something that was not true. While Barack Obama did not make the below statement, his actions speak louder than words. I grew up (and teach my children) that when the National Anthem is sung, you put your hand over your heart. It is a sign of respect, just as standing when the President walks into the room.

I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides, Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd LikeTo Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to re design our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons.Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago. She has her views and I have mine."
